Artist Statement

I design how touch will circulate between people, and let relationships grow out of that shared movement. The audience's participation activates the piece, inviting them to retune their senses and keeping the work live, mutual, and in the present tense. I build direct mechanisms from fabric, string, magnets and chains, electrical conduction, and copper wire. These sculptures take the form of installations, performances, and hands-on workshops. I am interested in how to incite childhood actions, such as touching, pulling, shaking, and gazing, facilitating a playful rhythm the body remembers.
